Background of the Study
Mobile learning, or m-learning, refers to the use of mobile devices to facilitate learning outside traditional classroom settings. This form of learning offers flexibility and accessibility, especially for students with special needs, who may face barriers in conventional educational environments. In Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue State, the integration of mobile learning could help special needs students overcome challenges related to mobility, communication, and engagement with traditional learning methods.
The effectiveness of mobile learning for special needs students has gained significant attention in recent years, as mobile devices provide personalized learning experiences through specialized applications and resources. These devices can be tailored to meet the unique learning needs of students, offering features like text-to-speech, interactive content, and customized learning paths. Despite these advantages, the adoption of mobile learning for special needs students remains inconsistent, with barriers such as limited access to technology, inadequate teacher training, and resistance to new methods of learning. This study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of mobile learning in improving educational outcomes for special needs students in Makurdi.
